Delta: Aziza Re-Elected as Urhobo Progress Union President, Says He’ll Solidify his Achievements

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) General Patrick Aziza has been re-elected as the President of UPU for second term.
In a keenly contested election held at Ultra Modern Urhobo Cultural Centre, Uvwiamuge, Delta State on Saturday, Aziza pulled 301 votes to beat Chief (Arch) O.C. Majoroh who scored 224 votes.

The election conducted by Electoral Committee headed Independent Electoral (INEC) Commissioner of Cross River State, Barr. Mike Igini saw former Executive members of UPU being re-elected to their positions. Those re-elected are Chief S.O. Omene , First Deputy President, Chief Tuesday Onoge, Second Deputy President, Chief O. Uloho, Third Deputy President, Chief (Barr) Albert Akpomudje Secretary General, Chief Efe Okonoko, Assistant Secretary General and Barr Akpodeye (SAN), Legal Adviser.
Other elected exeutive officers of UPU are Barr. O Ojevwe, Assistant Legal Adviser, Chief Mike Ederewevbe, Treasurer, Chief Rapheal Emecho, Financial Secretary, Chief Grace Usisare, Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr John Onejaro, Public Relation Officer, Chief Gabriel Ojoba, Assistant Public Relation Officer and Chief Odogu Napoleon, Internal Auditor.
The election which started at about 12.00 noon after the opening/plenary session for delegates and special invitees hence the day was also used to mark the 82nd Urhobo Day National Day Celebration 2013 finally came to an at about 11 pm with the announcement of the election results.
Recalling the group achievements under his administration while addressing Urhobo sons and daughters before the election, Aziza said as part of their deliberate policy to bridge building across the divide, the group visited the Arewa Consultative Forum and hosted the Ndokwa National Union. He added that they also planning to visit other ethnic nationalities within Delta State.
He said their visit to President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Palace, Abuja is already yielding result, adding that it has open a gate way for the Urhobos.
“ I now have a key to open some section of Aso Rock. Apart from that visit, I have been there twice on private visit. If I have any idea they will allow me to see the President and put it before him. I think we are having some dividends out of that visit,” Aziza assured, just as he disclosed that Urhobo will soon be having the full dividends of democracy from Jonathan led administration.
