Attack on Commissioner: Police Declare Uduaghan’S Aide Wanted

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 15TH (URHOBOTODAY_-The Delta State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an aide of Governor EmPTEMBER manuel Uduaghan following an alleged attack on the state Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare. Muoboghare was alleged attacked on Saturday by some thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for conspiring with some chieftains of the party to alter the list of the local government ward executives of the party.
The commissioner was hospitalised after the attack at the Delta State University of Teaching Hospital in Oghara. Since the attack, the police have been on the lookout for the governor’s an aide who hails from the Uwheru community in Ughelli North Local Government Area with the commissioner. Reliable police source told National Mirror that preliminary investigation revealed that the governor’s aide was the mastermind of the attack.
The sources added that the police were of the view that the governor’s aide sponsored the two suspects arrested in connection with the incident. One of the sources, who did not want his name mentioned, said: “The Delta State Police Command is on the manhunt for one of the aides of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan who hails from the same community with the commissioner. The commissioner was attacked on Saturday in Ughelli.
“The aide was suspected to have masterminded the attack on the commissioner and we are on the manhunt for him to explain his involvement in the incident.” It was, however, learnt yesterday that the embattled commissioner had undergone two surgeries at Delta State University Teaching Hospital in Oghara, the home town of former Governor James Ibori.
Doctors were still battling to save the life of the embattled commissioner as at the time of filing this report yesterday. The commissioner was moved to the teaching hospital for intensive care.
The source said that Muoboghare was stabbed many times by the thugs, who mobilised and confronted him on why he attempted to alter the list of the local government ward executive at the party’s secretariat in Ughelli. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the attack and blamed it on the PDP leadership’s failure to involve security personnel in the party’s congress.
