The appeal by embattled former governor of Delta State, Mr. James Ibori challenging his conviction is expected to come up at the Royal Courts of Justice first quarter of 2013, FrontiersNews can reveal.
The case seems to be within sight with a date yet to be fixed but Urhobotoday learnt that January may likely be taken for the hearing of the case

Our Correspondent gathered that, Mr. Ibori had successfully launched an appeal challenging his sentence prior to the hearing on confiscation of his assets in September, 2012, which he won.

Mr. Ibori had secured the right to challenge the length of his sentence and after about three months of waiting for the case to come up for hearing before an Appeal Judge.

Mr. Ibori is currently serving his 13-year jail terms at Her Majesty’s Prison in Long Lartin, Sourth Littleton, Worcheshire, London, for money laundering and theft totaling $50 million during his two-terms tenure in office as governor of the oil rich state between 1999 to 2007.
