At Last, Suntai Speaks, Thanks All For Prayers, Assumes Office

Danbaba Suntai

LAGOS AUGUST 28TH (URHOBOTODAY) – A recovering Danbaba Suntai, the Taraba State Governor, Wednesday night spoke publicly for the first time in 10 months since his hospitalization abroad following a plane crash near the Yola International Airport, Adamawa State.
Suntai, who had earlier dissolved the state executive council, addressed the state in a short broadcast during the scheduled 7.pm news on state government funded Taraba Television (TTV).
The governor who read slowly and softly from a script, though articulately, struggled with his voice, indicating that he is yet to fully recover from the crash.
Clad in a suit without a tie, Suntai sat throughout the broadcast which was made in the presence of aides and his two new appointees – Chief of Staff and SSG.
He thanked his constituents for their prayers during his treatment and congratulated indigenes of the Taraba on its 22nd anniversary as a state.
“I congratulate you on our 22 years anniversary as a state. We are indeed a great state and we shall become greater. I also thank you all for your support throughout my moment of crisis. Thank you for your love, patience and understanding,” he said.
In a footage of the broadcast seen by THEWILL, the governor urged residents and indigenes of the state to continue to live in harmony, peace and unity.
Before his broadcast the governor watched while the new SSG and the Chief of Staff took their oath of office.
Suntai’s return two days ago had thrown the state into confusion and chaos and split the House of Assembly.
