A list of nine ministers and a special adviser to the President that are likely to be affected in the impending cabinet reshuffle to be effected by President Goodluck Jonathan has been revealed.
Impeccable presidency sources hinted FrontiersNews that prominent among them are some of the ministers perceived to be close to the President as a result of their ambition to seek elective offices in 2015 which is about two years away.
The presidency our correspondent learnt has concluded plans to show the cabinet members way out of the FEC in order to actualize their political dream.
The list according to our sources included the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Caleb Olubolade; Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mr Bala Mohammed, Works Minister Mike Onolememen and Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku.
Others according to our sources are the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godsday Orubebe, Labour Minister Emeka Wogu, Mines and Steel Minister Mohammed Sani Sada, Mr Yerima Ngama, Minister of State for Finance and FCT Minister of State, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide as well as one of the president’s special advisers, Mr Sylvester Monye.
There were media hype over the impending cabinet reshuffle about two weeks ago when the President convened a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
We were reliably informed that the deliberation on the 2014 budget and medium term expenditure framework was later used as a decoy to douse the tension since the press had blew up the purported cabinet reshuffle beyond proportion.
The ministers that would be affected in the exercise have reportedly been told to prepare their handing over notes as the Presidency may make official announcement any moment from now baring any change of plan.
While Mr Olubolade, believed to be one of the close allies of the President was not hiding is intention to contest for governorship in Ekiti, his home state, the ambition of Mr Bala Mohammed, the minister of FCT to succeed Governor Isah Yuguda in Bauchi is not hidden either as his gubernatorial posters and nocturnal meetings to achieve his ambition were said to be the usual thing now in the state.
It was not clear as at press time whether the FCT Minister of State, Ms Akinjide would want to try to ‘acquire’ the title of a Senator again having failed before in her quest to be in the senate or attempt to be the first female governor of the pacesetter state.
The likes of Messrs Maku, Orubebe and Wogu who currently held sway in information, Niger Delta and Labour Ministries are leaving no stone unturned to become the governor of their respective states.
The same is the case with Messrs Onolememen, Sada, Ngama, and Monye.
