Court of Appeal Declares Talib Tebite Winner of Delta State House of Assembly Election

UGHELLI—THE Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, Edo State, yesterday, declared Olororun Taleb Tebite of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, as winner of the May 6 House of Assembly rerun election in the council area.
Olorogun Taleb Tebite had been at the election petition tribunal with Mr Eme Mukoro of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, over the outcome of the State House of Assembly election in the constituency.
Delivering judgment, the lead judge, Justice Raphael Agbo said the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, had no candidate in the said election by virtue of section 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Agbo ordered the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC to issue Olorogun Taleb Tebite with certificate of return, having polled the highest vote cast in the said election as the duly elected representative of the Ughelli South constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The judge also ordered that Olorogun Taleb Tebite be sworn-in as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly without delay.
Reacting to the judgment, Taleb Tebite said he was elated by the judgment and said he was dedicating the victory to God and the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
