Information has it that Nigeria’s Deputy Minister of State for Education, Nyeson Wike, is actively mobilizing Rivers States students and indigenes in the London to stage a protest tomorrow against Governor Amaechi
SaharaReporters learnt that Mr. Lloyd was detained by the police when he showed up at their headquarters at about 5p.m. Nigerian time. A source at the Rivers State Government House said Mr. Lloyd made a statement to the police and was told to return tomorrow for further interrogation.
Mr. Lloyd is under investigation for the July 9 fracas allegedly induced by President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, during which he attacked Chinda with a wooden mace.
Mr. Lloyd claims that his attack against Chinda was due to provocations by Evan Bipi, the lawmaker who led a renegade group of lawmakers to invade the House of Assembly to attack him and his colleagues. Mr. Bipi, who is a close relative of the Nigerian First Lady and who has described her as his “Jesus Christ,” later bragged about the attack on a video that was captured on mobile phone on the day of the incident.
In addition to Mr. Lloyd, the police authorities are also investigating the Chief Security Officer to the governor as well as his aide-de-camp. For some reason, they did not invite Mr. Bipi and his colleagues.
In another development, sources in London have told SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s Deputy Minister of State for Education, Nyeson Wike, is actively mobilizing Rivers States students and indigenes in the city to stage a protest tomorrow against Governor Amaechi who is in London to deliver a speech at the Chatham House at 10 a.m.
One of the students told SaharaReporters that Mr. Wike is making promises of financial rewards to those willing to participate in the protest.
Last weekend, Mr. Wike, a key Jonathan loyalist, led a delegation of anti-Amaechi politicians to visit the recuperating Chinda.
