When Mark, Ekweramadu, Uduaghan, Others Escort Ewherido to his Final Resting Place

LAGOS JULY 20TH (URHOBOTODAY)- Family and friends of the departed Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido, Friday broke down in tears as his remains was laid to rest in his Ewu country home, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State. He was laid to rest at 4:15pm.
His corpse, which was brought in from Warri after a funeral mass in his honour at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral Church, was accompanied by a long motorcade with top government functionaries and captains of industries across the country.

In his homily, Catholic Bishop of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Warri, Bishop John Aferhera described the late Senator Pius Ewherido as an embodiment of what a true Nigerian should be in the service of his mother land.
Aferhera said the late Senator Ewherido stood for good governance, justice, love, equity, brotherliness and care for the under-previleged in the society. He charged all Nigerian political leaders to emulate him and keep his vision for an egalitarian society alive.
Amongst Nigerian leaders at the requiem mass were the Senate President, Dr. David Mark; Senate Leader, Ndoma Egba; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; Sen. Domingo Obende; Sen. Ifeayin Okowa; Sen. George Akume, and Sen. Uche Chukwunerije.
Others include Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and, Ovuozorie Macualy, SSG Delta State, Speaker Delta State house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Assembly member Talib Tebite, Commissioners Frank Omare,Newworld Seifugha, Barr. Omo-Agege and Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo.
Those who spoke to newsmen at Ewu include; Chief Solomon Ahwinawhi, Olorogun Taleb Tebite, Mr Edoja Akpodiete and Chief Ovis Uto, described the exit of Senator Pius Ewherido as a big political setback to t he Urhobo nation.
On his part, Chief Solomon Ahwinawhin, a former member of the House of Representatives said the news of the death of Ewherido came to him as a shock and said they would miss him greatly.
Senate President, Senator David Mark said the late Senator Pius Ewherido was known for his braveness in the National Assembly.
Mark who spoke during the funeral mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Warri, Delta State said; “in such an occasion, it is almost impossible to find the appropriate words to express one’s condolence.
“I know Pius before he came to the senate. He came on the platform of opposition but started working for Nigeria the moment he reached the senate. That is why Senators wept for him.
“Today , we have come bid our friend and brother farewell. Pius demonstrated patriotism. He was known for his nationality, his passion and braveness in the National Assembly. We listen to him attentive whenever he speaks. We believe he will rest in the blossom of The Lord.”
