A group under the aegis of Egbema for Positive Change has challenged the Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan to embrace the truth and find a lasting solution to the ethnic, political and power sharing problems in Warri North Local Government Area.
The group recalled that the Governor while serving as Secretary to State Government under the James Ibori regime was in the committee set up to look into the same crisis at that time and suggested an equal power sharing deal among the Ijaws and Itsekiris in the area.
In its open letter to the Governor which copied the President, Goodluck Jonathan, the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representative, National Security Adviser, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, The Ijaw National Leader,E.K Clarke and Commander of the Joint Task Force signed by its Secretary Mr Smart .Y. Yortor and its Public Relations Officer Comrade Shola Korokoro, the group accused the Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan of marginalizing the Egbema People in favour of the Itsekiri’s, adding that no Egbema Ijaw person has ever been appointed by the Government at both Council and State level.
The reminded the Governor that the Peace in the area is fragile maintaining the Itsekiri’s, the ethnic affiliation of the Governor of Delta State is politically marginalizing and oppressing the Egbema- Ijaw People.
