There was confusion at the premises of the Effurun branch of Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Church when Chief Akpofure was reported to have stopped the Church wedding between his daughter (name withheld) and a young man whose name was also withheld.
Our correspondent gathered that the brides father took the action because the bridegroom was alleged to have arrived at the wedding venue late, adding that Akpofure may also felt insulted because they groom did not recorgnise his present.

According to a source close to the church and the bride’s family, “ the bride’s father was already seated at 9:30am for the wedding billed to commerce at 10:00am, only for the groom whose name was not disclosed to arrive at about 10:30am.
“Apart from the annoyance of the groom’s purported late arrival, the bride’s father, Chief Akpofure was also allegedly angry that the groom did not acknowledge his presence.”
While one account claimed the bride fainted at the church premises when it became apparent that the wedding will no longer hold that day, another source said the bride fainted at home after her father successfully dragged her home.

Efforts to get more details from close family associates and some persons that attended the wedding were unsuccessful as they declined further comment for fear of not being quoted.
