The third phase of the Delta State Economic Dash Board which began few weeks ago in the state capital Asaba, yesterday uncovered a fraud of N25billion at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) in the last one year.
The dash board which is a traffic methodology of the state’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) has been subjected to rigorous level of scrutiny by consultant, ROLLANDE BERGERS and Co, to determine their viability and performance in the last four years.
LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the dash board project deployed four pillars-revenue-planning, developments of infrastructure and productivity in evaluating the MDAs.

But the consultants in a shocking revelation said that, “Enough funds have been provided for DESOPADEC and it fell below standard performance as well as not meeting up its targets”.
Inside the unity hall, Government House where the consulting firm had assembled, one of the spokes persons (name withheld) had on the dash board showed the poor performances of some of the MDAs including DESOPADEC.
LEADERSHIP gathered that to ensure the diversification of the state’s economy the process would be targeted at ensuring that the state no longer solely depend on oil revenue in line with “Delta Beyond Oil” initiative by the state governor.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the state government only few weeks ago dissolved the Commission when it was inundated with litany of petitions over its alleged fraudulent dispositions but was later reconstituted by the governor.
LEADERSHIP checks revealed that since the “Review initiative” was kick started, the governor had been saddened by shoddy performance of most of the ministries after huge sums of money had been allocated to them and has threatened to sanction such ministries in the next review.
