A Warri-based businessman, Chief Matthew Aghomi has appealed to the Federal Government to fully privatise the source power supply in the country just as he lamented that poor power supply has affected the cost of doing business in Nigeria.
Speaking to our Correspondent at the weekend, Aghomi who is also the operator of ‘Oasis Hotel’ Warri said many businesses were folding up nationwide as a result of poor power supply and implored Federal Government to make improved power supply a top priority.
According to him, “The Federal Government should allow anybody that can generate his own light to generate. I am not saying generators. We have other means. People can even use waste to generate power. People can even use solar energy and the government should encourage this.

“In fact, some technical schools should be encouraged to fabricate solar panels; other should also be encouraged to produce the battery and that is the end. Solar panels and battery will help to reduce the over dependence on public power supply,” he added.
Aghomi also said, “There are little things that we are seeing that can bring power even the refuse that we are seeing now; they can be used to generate power too. But the Government is not thinking in that direction. But if they are, we are yet to see any sign of it. So that is the situation we have found ourselves. We that are doing business in the country are spending so much on fuel and diesel to run our businesses in the country.”
