Delta State Board of Internal Revenue has yesterday blacklisted two. banks, namely Union Bank Plc and Diamond Bank for alleged fraud of N1.1Billion.
The chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Onowakpor Thomas stated this in Asaba while briefing news men on the transaction of the two banks regarded to the payment of
revenue.

Mr. Onowokpor explained that the decision is coming on the heels of
the inability of the banks to account for the N1.1b collected from tax paid by the Chevron Nigeria Ltd into the coffer of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue.
He further explained that on December 27, 2012, Chevron Nigeria Ltd paid the sum of N1.1b into Union Bank for onward transfer into its account with Diamond Bank, ten days after the transaction was made, the board was yet to receive confirmation on the payment, a situation he said prompted anxieties and subsequent investigation into the transaction.
He called on the public to desist from transacting business as
regard to collection of Delta revenues with the two banks.
He said that all the account with the two banks have been closed,
saying that “these banks do not live up to their expectation as
custodian of public funds which is expected to be transparent
enough to their customers.
He urged the central bank of Nigeria to investigate Union Bank Plc and Diamond Bank if they follow standard procedures in the
transaction.
