WARRI: A man believed to be in his early forties was on Sunday December 30 found dead at the Esisi river (Eye river), Warri, 7 hours after he reportedly left his home to defecate at the Esisi bridge, Fresh Angle can exclusively report.
The man’s son, Jonathan who is the only known family member of the deceased told Our Correspondent that his father left home 1am to defecate at the Esisi bridge and he didn’t bother to check on him when he wasn’t returning because he thought his father went to a nearby ladies night groove, a party that was going on around the Esisi area.

The son who claimed that his father had told him that their origin is from Calabar without any definite trace to a family background, explained that is late father who was an ice cream seller before his death left home drunk.
The deceased who was simply identified as Omere (meaning brother in Itsekiri language) as a result of his prolonged stay in Okere community was discovered dead 8am Sunday December 30 by another man who also went to defecate by the Esisi bridge.

Fresh Angle gathered that the late Omere was seen floating on the river and was immediately carried by residents of the area. He has since been buried in an undisclosed location in the area.

Our Correspondent who went to the spot where the late Omere fell into the river, reports that the iron pipe where he allegedly sat on beside the bridge is believed to have broken as a result of rust and not even the one he held (i.e. the bridge rail) could save him.

Investigations reveal that aside being drunk, the late Ice cream seller didn’t know how to swim and most houses within that area do not have toilet facility.
