College of Education Warri Shut Down as Students Protest Lack of Hostel Accommodations


LAGOS JANUARY 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-The college of Education Warri have been shut down after student’s protest of lack of hostel accommodation.
The students who stage a protest to demand more hostels were seen carrying placard with inscription like, “Students are not goat, we are homeless and enough is enough”.

The Acting Provost Sylvester Sele Ebisine addressing the Students said the School had to be closed down till February 3, 2014 to enable the students recoup and School authority look into the issue of hostels.
Also present at the school premises at the time of protest was NANS Chairman, Prince Uhrorho Koyoyo, Delta State who took the time also to address the students. He said, that the issue of hostel has been a long lingering issue.
The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan during the last year convocation of the school promised to resolve the hostel crisis facing the school but till date nothing have been done.
The Land area allocated for the hostels have been under dispute between the Edjeba and Okere Urhobo Community and this have been the major setback for erecting hostels.
Many students who could afford it live in expensive apartments within Warri town and also have to pay for transport to get back to school.
