Warri Residents Protest Police Harassment, Extortion
LAGOS AUGUST 8TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Residence of Warri in Okere-Urhobo area of Delta State took to the street yesterday in protest over the inhuman treatment and steady raid against its indigenes by the DPO in “B” Division at Avenue, Okumagba Estate Warri, Delta State.
The protesters who took over Warri street in their hundreds complained that since the resumption of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area, residence of the community have not known peace.
They alleged that they have been experiencing one unlawful raid or the other followed by extortion by policemen from policemen of the division.
They explained that they could not go out freely to do normal business, adding that once it is 5pm the DPO and his men would start raid from Estate roundabout through the layout to airport road arresting those doing their lawful business.
They are calling on Government to call the DPO in the area to order and stop the unfair treatment on the residents..
