LAGOS NOVEMBER 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Group under the aegis of Okpe Renaissance, a Pan-Okpe Pressure Group seeking good governance and better deal for Okpe sons and daughters has appealed to all those who contested the Delta State House of Assembly election especially Chief Hero Omurhirhen, Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 14 April, 2015 House of Assembly election against member of House of Assemble in Okpe constituency, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to withdraw their cases from Appeal Court.
Comrade Joseph Biokoro and Philip Dadogwaye, President and Secretary of the group respectively in a signed statement made available to Urhobotoday an online medium after their emergency meeting in Opuraja, Okpe Local Government Area over the weekend expressed shock and outraged over the action of Chief Omurhirhen, the Labour Party candidate for going to the Appeal Court to challenge the victory of Honourable Oborevwori at the election petition tribunal, arguing that Oborevwori did not only win “but won the election convincingly based on the votes cast on large margin.
The group said it is high time Omurhirhen sheath his sword because the people of Okpe are in need of development not litigation which will take them to nowhere, adding “ when there is a contest somebody must win if you lose why can’t you accept defeat for God sake, you cannot take us back.”
The group threatened that if Omurhirhen refused to yield to their request, their next step of action is to match to Omurhirhen, Udogun in council and their respected Royal father Umogu to intervene in this matter, adding that they need democratic dividends in Okpe and not litigation.
The group called on His Royal majesty, Orhue 1, Orodje of Okpe, Okpe Traditional Council of Chiefs and prominent Okpe sons and daughters to prevail on Omurhirhen to withdraw his case at the Appeal Court in order not to move Okpe into crisis in his desperate bid to fulfill his ambition because Okpe belongs to all and Omurhirhen as a person.
The group concluded that Omurhirhen should see politics as sportsman and accept Oborevwori as brother rather than seeing politics as a do or die affairs.
“Yesterday it was Hon. Efe Afe, today its Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who the people of Okpe freely gave their mandate. Tomorrow it could be you, Mr. Hero Omurhirhen. You cannot rock the boat because it is not you,” the group stressed.
