Protesters Shut Down Effurun, Warri, Over Electricity Black Out (SEE VIDEO)

LAGOS JULY 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Hundreds of residents in Warri, Effurun and environs on Wednesday blocked the Effurun Roundabout, the gateway to the twin city of Warri and Effurun to protest against what they described as epileptic and non-availability of electricity supply by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
The protesters made mostly of women marched round major streets and roads in Effurun before blocking the popular entrance to Warri, thereby creating serious traffic gridlock in Warri, Effurun, Udu and its surrounding towns.
The epileptic power supply had grounded economic activities in Delta South and Delta Central Senatorial Districts.
The protesters carried big banners with the inscription “No light, no road”, “Funke Osibadu must go”, “Enough Is Enough” and “No more rationing.”
The roundabout, flyover and bypass were blocked by the angry protesters who vowed to continue to shut the cities until the power situation improved.
The situation grounded economic activities in the Effurun roundabout area, the gateway to the twin city of Effurun and Warri with travellers having bitter tales of sad experiences, as both human and vehicular movements were almost impossible for much of the day.
