Morgan Smart Foundation Award Scholarship to 25 Delta Students, Promises More
LAGOS FEBRUARY 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Morgan Smart Development Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization, has awarded scholarship to 25 indigent secondary school students in Delta State.
In her welcome address, during the 6th scholarship award ceremony held in Warri recently, Dr. Omawumi Evelyn Atsiangbe Urhobo, president of Morgan Smart Development Foundation stated that the foundation has now achieved its targeted number of sponsoring 100 students during inception in 2010.
According to her “the plan of the foundation when this programme was introduced in 2010, was to assist about a 100 students under this scholarship programme and by the grace of God this has been achieved with the award today. However because of the success of this programme and how it has impacted on a large number of children from poor homes with all their testimonies, the foundation has decided to go on with the programme, by sponsoring 500 children within the next five years. The implication of this is that more children will be awarded scholarships every year than the previous number of 15 awardees a year.
Continuing she said “the truth is I can never stop telling my story that my passion in introducing this scholarship was borne out of the simple fact that if I have not enjoyed a scholarship to go through part of my secondary education and my university education, I won’t be where I am today. It is with gratitude to God for this intervention in my life, that I nurtured the desire to give some children from poor homes, the opportunity to realize their dreams by having access to education unhindered by financial burden. I have always believed that education is the key to life. To be brilliant and intelligent is a special gift of God that is sacrosanct and must never be wasted.
She advised the students drawn from different secondary school in Delta State to take their studies very seriously, never cheat in exams nor join cult groups, never believe that there is short cut to success in life but rather stay focused with their goals clearly defined. She also appealed to well meaning Nigerians to join the foundation in its life changing programme.
