LAGOS JUNE 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) Governorship candidate in 2011 general, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has commended the courage of President Goodluck Jonathan for providing the transparent leadership necessary for a credible election in the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election..
He also applauded the effort of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega and INEC for meeting global benchmark in the Ekiti governorship election.
“We must first salute the courage of President Goodluck Jonathan for providing the transparent leadership necessary for a credible election. Professor Attahiru Jega and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserve commendation for meeting global benchmarks in this election.
“Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State has been widely acclaimed as free and fair. This is a huge positive development for our democracy This is what Nigerians have always expected from INEC. Sham elections demean us as a people and create avoidable instabilities with unimaginable consequences,” Ogboru affirmed in a press statement he made available to Urhobotoday, an online medium.
Congratulating Dr Ayodele Fayose and the people of Ekiti State for the victory, Ogboru pointed out that Fayose’s victory is an evidence of the unbroken bond he had with the Ekiti grassroot.

Ogboru observed that, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has etched his name in the sands of time as a civilized democrat by accepting the people’s verdict, stressing that Nigeria surely needs such a great man in continuing the quest for greatness.

Yesterday’s governorship election in Ekiti State has been widely acclaimed as free and fair. This is a huge positive development for our democracy.

We must first salute the courage of President Goodluck Jonathan for providing the transparent leadership necessary for a credible election. Professor Attahiru Jega and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserve commendation for meeting global benchmarks in this election. This is what Nigerians have always expected from INEC. Sham elections demean us as a people and create avoidable instabilities with unimaginable consequences.

An election reflecting the will of the people of Ekiti State is a victory for all.
