DESOPADEC to Increase Number of Beneficiaries in Ndokwa- Chris Ochor

LAGOS JANUARY 4TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), is to increase the number of empowered people within the Ndokwa ethnic nationality.
This was made known recently by the Executive Director in charge of Social Services Development of the commission, Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, during empowerment programme of the commission at Ashaka, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, just as some of the beneficiaries of the programme expressed their happiness with him and the commission for the programme.
Hon Ochor who spoke to newsmen at the occasion says that over 200 beneficiaries was empowered which was made of youths, women, widows and the physically challenged, and the commission will increase the number of beneficiaries within the area so that majority of the Ndokwa people will not only be self-reliant, but also to be employers of labour which will boost the economic statues of the area.
While pleading with the beneficiaries to protect and put to proper use the starter packs giving to them, he called on those that did not benefit to be patience as the exercise is a continuous one as directed by the executive Governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in line with the SMART agenda of the state government.
Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries of the programme from Ukwuani LGA has thanked Hon Ochor for the opportunity given to them to be beneficiaries of the programme.
The group of beneficiaries, who spoke through Mr Kingsley Emeke, said that the empowerment which came towards the end of the year, was the best Christmas and New Year gift they ever received, as the materials and cash gifts will go a long way to end the year, and begin the New Year, 2016.
The group, while pleading with DESOPADEC to empower more Ndokwa people, says that the over 40 youths, women, widows and the physically challenged who were beneficiaries from Ukwuani LGA, will ensure that the aim of the programme will not be defeated as they are ready to work with Hon Ochor for the people from the mandate areas to benefit and also help in the government SMART agenda.
The empowerment programme saw many receiving different items in form of tricycle, generators, Hair dryers, ladies motor cycle, cash and wrappers, and cycle for the physically challenged.
