DESOPADEC Commissioner, Okolugbo Showers Ndokwa PDP Loyalists with Cars (PHOTOS)
LAGOS NOVEMBER 3RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Commissioner, representing Ndokwa Nation in Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), Sir Kenny Okolugbo has empowered six Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyalists in Ndokwa Nation with different brand of vehicles ranging from Toyota Sienna, Toyota Corolla, Camry to Mazda 626.
Presenting the vehicles to the elated beneficiaries at his country home, Obiaruku, Delta State, Okolugbo who described the gesture as the beginning of his administration reward to PDP loyalists in his constituency pointed out that he is appreciating them for the services they have rendered to the party and himself.
According to him, “If you noticed we won the council election overwhelmingly in the whole of Ukwuani local government area and this did not happen by chance, but by the effort of some of this people who are being empowered today. They have made quality contributions, remained loyal and focus to the party. The idea is for them to know that it pays to be loyal, focus and remain in our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
Okolugbo who revealed that he intends to empower no fewer than fifty party loyalists before he lives office assured that ten cars would be given out to another batch of party loyalists on January, adding that the idea is part of Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan’s human capital development and three point agenda programme.
“Our amiable Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has taught us to reward loyalty as the dividend of democracy. Those who have received these cars today will have a landmark to show that this was what they got from Sir Kenny Okolugbo when he was in office as DESOPADEC Commissioner. You see, you cannot do without stomach infrastructure. You cannot get loyalty when the people are not happy. If you like build all the houses and roads in Delta State, we commissioned a 3 bedroom flat for a 77 years old man in December last year we are commissioning another in December this year because as we are developing we are also developing the people. That is exactly what we are doing,” he stated.
The Commissioner who described the criteria used in selecting the beneficiaries as loyalty, long term of service and dedication to the party described cars as gift to party loyalist as means to improve their means of livelihood, just as he explained that the presentation was done deliberately after the local government election so that people would not think that it was done to score cheap point to win the local government election.
“Now that we have won we are telling them that we are on top and we are reigning supreme,” Okolugbo stressed.
Responding to journalist question as to what was the magic he put in place with respect to winning all the seats in his constituency in the just concluded council election, Okolugbo said, “We did dry voting. What magic do you need? We went round. We were commissioning projects. We commissioned four projects. We would have commissioned fourteen but we screened them to four because we knew that we could not campaign on Friday which is October 24th. If we campaigned on Friday we could have commissioned more projects.
“We commissioned a street light in Okuzu, water project in Eziokpor with every house in the community having access to water, street light in Umuebu and street light in Umuaja. People are seeing things for themselves. I had always said I want to be remembered as a Commissioner who executed 100 projects. I have already commissioned forty and have sixty to go. I will surely commission the sixty before leaving office.”
A beneficiary and PDP Woman Leader in Ndokwa-West, Chief Tina Onyeme Adams said she was elated with the reward, just as she advised those who were not fortunate to be empowered to exercise patience saying it would come to their turn.
“Today is my turn. It will be the turn of another person tomorrow,” Adams told Urhobotoday as she celebrates with her friends.
Mr Ogwu Ifeanyichukwu from Umutu community, a faithful member of PDP and a beneficiary of MAZDA 626 car was short of words when Urhobotoday approached him to comment how he felt about the reward?
