LAGOS AUGUST 1ST (URHOBOTODAY)-The Delta State Government on Friday, dismissed rumours of cholera outbreak in the state.
Dr Sunday Otobo, Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Health, dismissed the speculation at a news conference in Asaba.
However, Otobo acknowledged few recorded incidences of vomiting and stooling in Aladja, Udu local government area of the state.

“But there is no cause for alarm as health officials are on top of the situation,” he assured.
He said samples of the stool have been taken to Lagos for testing and none has been confirmed to be cholera after laboratory analyses yet.
“There is no confirmed outbreak of cholera in Delta State as l speak with you.
“In some communities, to be specific in Aladja, there were incidents of vomiting and stooling that were reported and as a ministry, we have done a lot of work on this development.
“All the samples collected and sent to Lagos for testing none tested positive, so, no case of cholera has been confirmed in that community,” he said.
Otobo said that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa had directed that health officers in the 25 local government areas of the state should be proactive in detecting and tackling any outbreak of diseases in all communities.
He said that the governor also directed that the water plant in Aladja be resuscitated and put in use to provide potable drinking water for the community.
