LAGOS JANUARY 7TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Labour Party Governorship candidate in 2015 general election, Chief Great Ogboru legal team led by Mr. Dele Adesina (SAN), yesterday filed a 24-grounds Notice of Appeal challenging the Delta State Governorship appeal judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on December 24, 2015.
A statement signed by Mr Efe Duku said the action is in fulfillment of Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru’s decision to allow the Supreme Court have an opportunity to review the correctness or otherwise of the decision reached by their Lordships of the Court of Appeal. It is a normal, civilized process.
“It was quite easy for our Leader to direct our legal team to file this appeal having regards to fundamental incoherences and inconsistencies in the reasonings and findings reached in our appeal on the one side and the reasonings and findings reached on similar issues of facts and law in both the Rivers and Akwa Ibom States governorship appeals. Instructively, the Chairman of the Appeal Court panel in Delta State was also the Chairman of the Appeal Court panel in Akwa Ibom. But it clearly appears different outcomes were reached on the same issues of facts and law.
“We believe it will be a grave disservice to the reasonable expectations of our people and our electoral jurisprudence if we were to fail to approach the Supreme Court to determine the issues with finality,” the statement stated, adding, “Our approach to the issues is simple and consistent. We believe it is better to allow our Courts adjudicate on alleged human failings in the electoral process than to kill ourselves. Even when our patience has understandably waned, we must persevere still.”
As Og Madino noted in his work, ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World’, obstacles must be seen as comrades-in-arms forcing us to quit or become better. If we run away from them, we throw away our future. For the future we deserve in Delta State, we must confront obstacles on our paths with confidence, knowing they shall give way some day for the promise of a better future for all.
Indeed, democracy tasks human patience like no other form of governance. We need divine grace and the endurance of the biblical Job if we must prevail. In our travails in Delta, we shall prevail.
We need not say more for now. But please pray for Delta State. There is nothing to fear but fear itself.’

  1. IS DELTA STATE STILL PART OF NIGERIA,IF IT SO, LET JUSTICE TAKES IT’S PLACE.LOOK AT THE OTHER CASES OF ELECTION TRIBUNAL IN THE COUNTRY,WHILE DELTA’S OWN IS EXTRAL ORDINARY, LET THE TRUE WINNER OF ELECTION BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO RULE.

  2. Great Ogboru, don’t be tired or intimidated in the struggle. Be like President Muhammadu Bhuari. One day you will be there. You have my prayers and the God who granted Buhari’s will also grant your own. Keep up the fight. God is by your side.
