Delta 2015: Urhobo Group Backs Ochei for Governor

LAGOS JUNE 28TH (URHOBOTODAY) Group under the aegis of Delta Central Progressive Forum (DCPF) has thrown its weight behind Speaker Delta House of Assembly, Hon Victor Ochei in Delta State 2015 governorship election.
Speaking to Urhobotoday during the inauguration of the group in Effurun, Uvwie LGA, the National Coordinators of DCPF, Mr. Ochuko Megere who urged Urhobos to back Ochei in the 2015 governorship advised that Urhobo which is the largest ethnic majority group in the state should play the role of king maker by conceding the 2015 governorship position to Delta North senatorial district rather than producing a candidate for the governorship election.
Mejere who said he is a full blooded Urhobo man, but believe in the interest of justice and fairness enjoined Urhobos to jettison the idea of producing a governorship candidate in 2015 and rally round Ochei for the position.
While assuring the leadership and membership of the group that they were not going to labour in vain if they support Ochei in 2015, the state coordinator of the group, Mr. Vincent Ejagiwhre assured members that their effort would not be in vein if they support Ochei in the coming governorship election.
“Although, I have not met Ochei one on one, but with the way and manner he is handling legislative matters in Delta State House of Assemble, I am of the believe that he has all it takes to impact good governance in Delta State as governor of Delta State.
Another member of the group Chief Omonigho Ogbakpah who hailed from Mosogar clan Ethiope West LGA said the group is opened to all Deltans irrespective of their political parties stressing that he is ready to work for a credible man who would move Delta State forward.
He said Deltans should be agitating for good governance and credible person as governor who will move the state forward.
“Emphasis should not be placed on senatorial district. I believe Hon. Ochei will move Delta state forward. That is why I am supporting him,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Sunny Akpobuwa, state youth leader from Uvwie LGA who was sworn in alongside with Uvwie LGA executives thanked and commended the leadership of the body promising to work with them in order to achieve the aims and objectives of the group while on his part.
Comrade. Benjamin. Ogbon, Chairman Uvwie chapter of the body assured that they will not go contrary to the aspirations of the body but would work with oneness to achieve the goals of the body.
Highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of the Uvwie executive of the body by the National coordinator Mr. Ochuko Mejere. Those sworn in are Comrade. Benjamin.V. Ogbon, Chairman, Comrade. Alsi Wilson, Vice chairman, Comrade. Eruteyan Eradajaye, Secretary, Comrade. Onorame Ubiame, Treasurer, Comrade. Friday Omashaye, Financial secretary.
