CONFAB: Panacea to Nigeria Total Independence

CONFAB 3
By Shaguolo Amos
LAGOS JUNE 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-If Nigeria as a national state must move forward there are fundamental issues our leaders and the citizens must address with all sense of sincerity with immediate alacrity
First, for public awareness, Nigeria is not a nation rather Nigeria is a nation. This Lord Lugard didn’t put into cognizance in the 1914 amalgamation that landed us at where we are now. The end result is the issue of tribalism, regional differences, religion sentiment, issue of population etc we are facing today. They are immemorial problems which were intentional instituted

Today we cried that Nigeria Legislators, Executives and Judiciaries are the highest paid government functionaries in the world. Specifically many at times we make allusion to Britain and America whose cost of governance is far below that of Nigeria despite copying their style of governance.
It is a well established fact that Nigeria cost of governance is huge but I want us to reflect on pre-colonial era, colonial erara and arrival at the current post colonial era we are today. After critical analysis of each of the ERA’s we will know the source of the current problem of Nigeria as a Nation State
Having said that, there are issues we cannot and must not shy away from. Activities of the Colonial Era(Britain) was tailored at exploiting Nigeria which I am very convinced every one of us are aware of. Britain never thought of it that one day Nigeria will ask for self Independence in 1960, talk about to become a Republic in 1963. The colonial masters thought they would hold on to power for ever and they fixed huge salaries, remuneration and luxurious life styles for themselves in turn all they are acquiring in Nigeria is indirectly going to Great Britain. In other for us not to raise eye brow the aforementioned were imbibed in a written document which is our present constitution.
When it now done on them that we want independence, they have no option than to let go. There letting go they hand over the constitution drafted by them for their selfish gain to us which we are still using till date
And if we look deep inside into their style of governance majority of what is in our constitution is not in their constitution, that’s why we will always cry of huge cost of governance of our country Nigeria. The huge cost of governance is an inherited problem that require strong political Will to combat
In a nutshell, if we must solve this issue of high cost of governance that is eating us up as a Nation state, we must tell ourselves the bitter truth and agree to accept the bitter truth and take pragmatic steps to put an end to them
One of the pragmatic step is the CONFAB report. We must adopt it, prevail on our National Assembly and Executive arm to pass it, give assent to it and keep it working
The CONFAB report represent 85% of Will of Nigerians, whatever issue you think is affecting our governance is well addressed & well taken care of in the CONFAB report. The restructuring of Nigeria as a Nation State can not be over emphases. It’s a step gear toward unity, equity & fairness for all Nigerians
The CONFAB report is our suppose constitution which emanate from the people not the 1999 Constitition drafted & handed over to us by Britain, it does not represent the will of Nigerians
I reinstate, Nigeria problem must be resolve with all sense of sincerity & truthfulness. Nobody should be fooled in the name of one Nigeria
