At last Abducted 14yrs-Old Urhobo Girl, Ese Oruru Regains Freedom
LAGOS FEBRUARY 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Fourteen-year-old Urhobo teenager, Ese Oruru alleged to have been abducted from Bayelsa State and taking to Kano State has finally regain her freedom. She is now in the custody of the Federal Government, eight months after she was abducted by one Yinusa.
Yinusa a longstanding customer of Ese’s mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru, had taken the girl to Kano, had her converted to Islam and forcefully married her.
Ese’s release followed the launch on Sunday of the “Free Ese” Campaign by PUNCH, which was embraced by Nigerians from across the country and beyond.
The success of the campaign and Ese’s release is down to the efforts by Nigerians who overcame the shock and anger the sordid story caused, demanded her release and spurred the relevant authorities into action.
The release of the teen from her captor’s grip just a day after the campaign highlighted the determination of Nigerians who got to know about the shocking incident only on Sunday.
However, details of the FG’s plan to return the teen home and for the prosecution of those that violated the country’s laws are still being expected.

I think people in the South of Nigeria should now be very cautious in their dealings with northerners who now believe that since their man is the president, they can under any guise do anything to any non-northerner and get away with it. While we watch the emerging trend with great concern, government should be ready for any untowards consequence of northerners’ desperate and provocative acts including this abduction case and the rampaging, unguarded and intollorably barbaric acts meted to our people by Felani herdsmen who over run farmlands, descroying crops and in addition kill their owners, rape women and set villages ablaze without any serious action by the Federal Government. For now everyone is watching; but there is a limit to human endurance.
