LAGOS DECEMBER 4TH (URHOBTODAY)–Chief (Dr.) Chris Obiuwevwi Ominimini, an Ughelli North Constituency 1 candidate under APC that was swindled and short-changed immediately after the APC House of Assembly primaries by certain cabals in the party, has officially defected to the Accord Party (AP) with thousands of his political fans and loyalists.
In a release posted in his facebook page recently by the media and publicity group of the notable Agbarha politician disclosed that he is defecting from APC to Accord Party in order to actualize his political vision and great aspirations for the good people of his constituency in the Delta state House of Assembly come 2019.
The release further stated that the “People’s Choice” as Chief Ominimini is popularly called in political gatherings moved from APC as a result of piles of injustice and oppression melted on him by his former party when his mandate and candidacy was forcefully taken from him by a section of the party that was power drunk at both the state and national levels and gave the candidacy to their loyalist.
When confronted by Urhobotoday.com correspondent immediately the news of Chief Ominimini’s defection from the APC broke out in the social media, one of his political loyalists and the national chairman of the Action Movement Political Forum (AMPF), Comrade Fidelis Apare said, “We in AMPF are happy that our political leader has taken a bold step of faith and victory. We are solidly behind him. Ever since this struggle started, we have not derailed in pursuit of our dream and vision as a group. We are assuring our Oga that, we are solidly behind him in the 2019 general elections.
“ All what we are asking from INEC and the federal government is that, they should provide a conducive environment and level playing ground for all the political parties and their candidates during the election. INEC should not be influenced by the power of incumbency of any kind this time around. We are canvassing for free and fair elections in the 2019 general elections.
“ If really you are the People’s Choice, then let’s allow Nigerian votes to count for you without intimidation and violence from any group of people this time around. Once again, on behalf of the Action Movement Political Forum (AMPF), we congratulate our political leader and patron, Chief Dr. Chris Obiuwevwi Ominimini for defining to Deltans and Nigerians at large, the true meaning of democracy.”
All efforts to speak to Chief Ominimini’s reactions on the said defection proved abortive as at press time.
