2015: Group Calls on UPU to Sanction Onuesoke for Supporting Okowa

LAGOS DECEMBER 25TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Group under the aegis of Urhobo Professional Conglomerate (UPC), has called on the umbrella body of Urhobo people, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) to sanction Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bigwig, Chief Sunny Onuesoke for appealing to Urhobos to drum support for Delta State PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
The group in a press statement jointly signed by its President and Secretary General, Engr Benard Orhuerakpo and Dr John Atefia respectively, said for urging Urhobos to vote for Okowa in a recent publication in both print and online media, Onuesoke has gone against the principle of ‘Uvwiamuge Declaration’ which says Urhobo sons and daughters must support the course of producing an Urhobo indigene as the governor of Delta State.
The group which pointed that Onuesoke would have been lured by material inducement in order to canvass support for Okowa, alleged that before the Delta State PDP governorship election in which Dr Ifeanyi Okowa emerged as the governorship candidate of PDP, Onuesoke has been secretly working for Okowa.
According to them, his action both in the past and present is anti Uvwiamuge Declaration which is detrimental to Urhobo course, stressing that as such he has to be sanction to act as a deterrent to other Urhobo indigenes who may want to follow his line of betrayal.
The group said it is disheartening that in a situation where the Urhobos are trying to gain political prominence in Delta State by ensuring that one of them become the governor of Delta State, a notable Urhobo son in the person of Onuesoke is dragging them backwards by soliciting support for a Delta North candidate.
“We are surprise that Onuesoke, a notable Urhobo chieftaincy title holder is calling on Urhobos to vote for Okowa. He is among those Urhobos playing politics of hunger, politics of eba, rice and beans just to feed his stomach like Esau in the Bible,” the statement noted, warning that Onuesoke should not be allowed to participate in UPU activities until he purge himself of the offence.
The group further warned that any Urhobo indigene who did not stand by the principle of Uvwiamuge Declaration should also be sanction to act as a deterrent to others .
“How long shall Urhobos continue to play second fiddle in a state where they have the highest population and also produce greater part of the economic resources,” the group inquired, just as called on Urhobos to forge a united front to produce a governorship candidate in 2015 election.
If the South cry against Hausa for holding on to power at the national, what else can we say of the Urhobos and right to govership in Delta State. In 16 straight years, Urhobos (Delta Central) had it from 1999-2007; Itsekiris under Delta South, had it from 2007-2014; what then is the crime of Delta North under Okowa from clinching power from 2015.
Shame on any Deltan including any Urhobo son or daughter, who does not want power shit to Delta North. You’re worse than Hausa.

Mr. Opone with due respect, this type of thinking and mindset are the reasons Delta State is where she is. In true Democracy the world over, the best candidate in elections win not power shift. Until we realize this, Delta State will go nowhere. Why subject the people to the rigor of voting if it will not count coupled with innocent citizens being killed thinking they are doing their civic duties?
Let us preach sanity and accountability in voting and may the BEST CANDIDATE win. Delta State deserve it.

In the civilized societies the whole world over, the best candidate wins election but not the type and style of PDP(VOTE RIGGING, BUYING OVER CANDIDATES/PRIMARY FIXING AND BUYING OF DELEGATES, CORRUPTION, INTIMIDATION, THUGGERY AND PDP SPONSORED ORCHESTRATED VIOLENCE in Delta State. PDP is just a group of thugs, robbers and occultist cabal endemically.
