Rep Minority Leader, Leo Ogor Fights Crime in Isoko, Donates 12 Toyota Hilux to Vigilante

LAGOS APRIL 1ST (URHOBOTODAY)-In a bid to curb the increasing crime rate and kidnapping in Isoko Nation, the minority leader, House of Representatives and member representing Isoko Federal constituency, Rt. Hon Leo Ogor recently presented 12 Toyota hilux to vigilante groups from selected communities in Isoko North and South Local Government Area.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the presentation, Hon Leo Ogor stated that he noticed that the vigilante groups in Isoko Nation were limited in their fight against crime due to lack of vehicles.
According to him “there are major security challenges all over the place and the vigilante groups find it difficult to move from point to point because of the lack of vehicles and knowing full well that this is extremely important I had to use the instrumentality of government to make sure I assist them so as to enable them arrest these unacceptable level of kidnapping, robbery and a host of criminal issues in Isoko Nation.
“This is something that is going to be done on a continuous basis. We will keep reviewing it on a continuous basis to make sure that the people who live in these communities are as safe as possible which really, is the essence of this project.”
He also promised to equip the hilux pickups with Motorola gadgets that will cover about 60km radius saying “this means that everybody within the Isoko axis will be able to communicate with each vigilante group. It is going to be run entirely by the police, under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officers in Isoko North and South Local Government Area. But every vigilante group can reach one another within seconds. This is going to change the level of security in Isoko Nation to a very appreciable level. We want to tell the armed robbers, cultist and kidnappers that there is no peace for them in Isoko land.”
While commissioning the vehicles, the President General of Isoko
Development Union, High Chief Idu Amadhe commended Hon Leo Ogor for bringing the dividends of democracy to the grassroot.
He however advised the various President General of the benefiting communities to take proper care of the vehicles so that the purpose of purchasing them will be realized.
Also responding, the Divisional Police Officer, Ozoro, Paul Ibegbu commended Hon Leo Ogor saying that “this will assist the vigilante groups in Isoko nation fight the recent rise in crimes.”
