LAGOS MAY 30TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Some Repentant Niger Delta Militants of Urhobo indigenes stormed the inauguration ceremony of President Muhammudu Buhari which took place at the Eagle Square, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.
In a show of solidarity and support, the leader of the militants ‘General’ Israel Akpoduro said he has been supporter of the President since 2013.
He lamented that former President Jonathan ignored ex-militants that of Urhobo stock.
‘General’ Akpoduro claimed that over 50% of Nigeria’s crude oil is produced from Urhobo communities, but despite this President Jonathan did not treat he and his comrades well.
“We didn’t gain anything from President Jonathan’s tenure,” a visibly elated Akpoduro told The Paradigm.
“President Jonathan only empowered ex-militants from his Ijaw tribe. Our community is bad, no road, no water, no electricity. But we believe in President Buhari, he will treat us well” he stated.
Recall that former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua created an amnesty programmes to cater for Niger Delta agitators to drop their arms and embrace peace, a programme president Jonathan continued.
‘General’ Israel and his group, National Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators is said to be one of the groups that embraced the amnesty programme.
Asked what his group reaction would be if fellow militants take up arms against the government of President Muhammudu Buhari, ‘General’ Israel said who ever foments trouble would be arrested and locked up for good.
