Suspected Cultists Brutalize DESTMA Officials, Destroy Van In Ughelli

LAGOS MAY 27TH (UHOBOTODAY)-An eight-man gang of suspected cultists at the weekend attacked some officials of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) on official duty at Ogele Primary/Secondary School Road, Ughelli, leaving them with various degrees of injuries.
It was gathered that an official of DESTMA flagged down vehicles, including tricycles and motorcycles, to enable primary and secondary school students cross the road to their respective schools, but a suspected cultist refused to obey.
However, the DESTMA officials ensured that he did not contravene the order and in the process, the suspected cultist made a call, and within 10 minutes, seven members of his gang arrived and pounced on the agency officials and inflicted serious injuries on them, destroyed their official van in the process.
Comrade Adu Desmond, head of Ughelli Zonal Command of DESTMA, who spoke to journalists on the incident, after ensuring that his wounded officials were admitted at Ughelli Central Hospital, described the attack as barbaric and inhuman.
He appealed to security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders to help to sensitise members of the public of the activities of DESTMA in Ughelli and its environs.
