LAGOS AUGUST 8TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The alleged drunk policeman who pictures were published on social and print media has been identified and arrested by police officers from Lagos Police Command.
A statement made available to URHOBOTODAY an online medium by Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) DSP Patricia Amadin revealed that the Policeman has since been identified and arrested by the Command and that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni has ordered a full blown investigation into the case, in accordance with the Force disciplinary procedures.

“In line with the stand of the current Force leadership on discipline, the Commissioner of Police has repeatedly warned Police officers of the Command to desist from engaging in acts of indiscipline and going contrary to the ethics and professional standards of the Force which are capable of dragging the name of the Force and the Command to disrepute. While thanking the public for its continued support in exposing erring officers, he enjoined them to continue to do so to help the Command to improve on its service delivery, the statement said.
In another development, as part of his familiarization tour of the Command and in a bid to harness relationships with stakeholders on Security matters in the state, the Lagos state Police Commissioner CP Fatai Owoseni on Saturday hosted members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) to a social interactive session in Lagos.
The CRAN delegates to the session were led by the Association’s President, Mr. Christopher Orji. At the interactive session, the Commissioner of Police pointed out that there was need to foster cordial relationships between the Police and the media at all times in order to avoid speculative and ambiguous journalism capable of instilling a general feeling of insecurity, inciting the citizenry and provoking violent reactions.
He also emphasized his readiness to work in synergy with the media, saying his office was open to the Association for reports and suggestions that could enhance the Command’s performance.
He averred that he had set in motion, the process of restructuring and repositioning the Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) of the state Command which he disclosed was henceforth to be headed by a Chief Superintendent of Police with a view to checking negative reports and complaints against Police actions.
In his response, the President of CRAN, Mr Christopher Orji thanked the Police Commissioner for making out time to host the social gathering and pledged the full support of the Association to the Command. The Commissioner of Police fielded questions from the members of the Association, dispelling misconceptions and clarifying issues raised during the brief get-together.
