Onuesoke Celebrates News Of FG Signing Of Deal For Revival Delta Steel Company
LAGOS AUGUST 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Businessman and Environmentalist, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has celebrated the news of the Federal Government of Nigeria signing a deal for the revival of Delta Steel Company (DSC) located in Ovian-Aladja of Delta State.
The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Steel Development recently signed an agreement with Premium Steel and Mines Limited (PSML) to facilitate the revival and full operationalisation of the moribund Delta Steel Company in Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s legacy steel industry assets as a critical driver of industrialisation, economic diversification, job creation and sustainable national development.
The Sub-lease and Operations Agreement between the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), Itakpe, and PSM, as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to reposition Nigeria’s moribund steel assets as catalysts for industrialisation, economic diversification and job creation.
Reacting to the development, Onuesoke while hosting capitalist investors, those in industrial gas sector and ideological friends in an organised occasion sponsored by Gas Energy Limited in Warri, Delta state said signing of the deal for the revival of the steel company is welcome news.
Elated Onuesoke said if it the project finally comes alive, it would empower about 25,000 people, adding that it would equally improve Delta state infrastructural development in terms of construction of roads and further elevation of Ujevwu and Itakpe train routes
“This is an interesting news and an indication that our cries have been heard. If the project finally comes alive, it will provide employment to over 25,000 people thereby taking many of the unemployed out of the street of Delta state, thereby reducing the rate of crimes. Besides, it would equally provide opportunities for other side businesses like buying and selling, estate development and others.
“It will improve the rail line between Itakpe and Ujevwu and other infrastructural development in terms of roads constructions and building of houses. The frail rail line between Ujevwu and Itakpe will be properly fixed for easy movement of steel materials between Ajaokuta Steel and DSC.
Delta state will become a business hub as it were in the paste hence it will encourage movement of investors into the state. If everybody is busy, the rate of crime will be reduce and the state will become a very peaceful for all,” Onuesoke whose name is synonymous to the revival of DSC because he knew what it will contribute to the development of Delta State Government stated.
