Illegal Oil Well, Refinery, Discovered in Warri, Delta State

Soldiers from 3rd Battalion Nigerian Army discovered what seems to be an illegal oil well loading point for crude oil attached to an what military source described as a ‘large’ refinery. Military source explained that the illegal oil bunkerers had connected a pipe from the well-head to the loading point, covering a distance of about 1,500m from it transferred to the illegal refinery.
According to our source, the soldiers acting on a tip off stormed Okpoghene near Egwa 1, Warri, Warri South West LGA of Delta State where they discovered an illegal well-head loading point and a large refinery. The well-head is suspected to belong to Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC).
Although no arrest was made as the illegal oil bunkerers escaped before their arrival, thirteen boats, fifteen Geepee tanks and one hundred and fifty two iron drums containing substances suspected to be refined Automated Gasoline Oil (diesel), were discovered during a raid which took place on Thursday. The troops also discovered illegal bunkering equipment such as four pumping machines, 14 cooking ovens and several hoses during the raid.
