LAGOS APRIL MAY 1ST (URHOBOTODAY)-The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu, on Saturday escaped death as he was attacked by gunmen at attacked by gunmen the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Auchi, Edo State.
Some policemen and SSS operatives were however unlucky as they received gun shot injuries from the hoodlums.
The Deputy Governor, who is seeking to replace his boss, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in this year’s governorship election in Edo State on the platform of the APC, had gone to Auchi to meet with the delegates of the party.
The attack was said to have taken place as soon as he left a social function with his boss.
The gunmen were said to have arrived at the APC Secretariat in Auchi, which was reportedly locked against Odubu, thereby denying him access, and opened fire on him and his entourage, which included his security details.
Five of his security operatives were injured during the attack.
Those injured were said to include policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services.
