Delta Senatorial Bye-Election: Aguariavbo Clinches PDP Ticket with Land Slide Victory
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 24TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Former Member of the Federal House of Representatives and erstwhile Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Hon. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo has ran away with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta Central Senatorial bye election ticket, which took place at the Sapele main bowl stadium in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
He polled a total of 334 votes to win the primaries in a landslide victory. He defeated three other aspirants namely; Mr. Solomon Udele, former ADC to the immediate past governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, came a distance second with 8 votes.
Others are Chief Andrew Oru came behind them with 7 votes; and Solomon Edojah was last, scoring 2 votes.
The deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof. Amos Utuama while addressing Journalists after the announcement of the votes, thanked all the aspirants for their maturity and decorum demonstrated during the conduct of the primary.
He urged them to be united and worked together as one big family in ensuring that PDP wins the forthcoming Senatorial bye-election in the state.
In his reaction, the PDP flag bearer, Aguariavwodo Edesiri expressed his delight and satisfaction with the outcome of the election, promising that if elected a Senator, he will pursue the Urhobo course in the true spirit of pan-urhobo nationalism; and project the centre senatorial district in the centre of national political affairs.
Meanwhile, one of the aspirants, Solomon Edojah who came last in the contest, expressed dissatisfaction over the conduct of the primary, remarking that it was monetized, although he was mute on whether he will pursue legal action
