LAGOS MARCH 24TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Group under the aegis of Delta Elite Movement (DEM) has promised to bring Nigerian youths together and develop them for the betterment of the society.
Speaking to URHOBOTODAY correspondent at Asaba, Delta State, President of Delta Elite Movement(DEM) Comrade Ogegere Enivwenaye disclosed that DEM is an initiative born out of the patriotic desire to sensitise the people on developmental goals and also to consolidate on on the policies of government to further salvage the yearning of the people.
According to him, D.E.M. is a non-governmental and non-partisan organization that has been registered by Delta State Directorate of Youth Development with membership spread across all the three senatorial districts of Delta State, adding that the aims and objectives of the body are to unite the youths of Delta state in particular and Nigeria at large and to harness the structural, environmental and educational development of Nigerian youths..
“The youths are no doubt the leader of the future. The prayer of every man is that the future should be better than what we are experiencing presently. If the youths who are the future leaders fail to act as agent of change or demand for change when they see what is needed to be changed in the society, then surely, the future of the nation would be destroyed. If the future is destroyed no doubts the youths suffer greatly for it because there would be no future were they would be leaders,” the statement observed.
Consequently, the group had planned to organize seminars, symposiums and rallies in other to promote peace, unity and patriotism. They equally plan to act as counsel to Nigerian youths on challenges bordering on education, elections and employment. Besides, the group had promised to organise talk shows on television stations across the nation to educate the youths on the need for environmental and educational development of the nation.
“We also plan to embark on youth empowerment initiative through an organized structure in other to create job opportunities, discover talents and encourage creativity. Finally, we shall embark on the mission of bringing the demands and yearnings of the rural communities to the forefront and present them before the government for consideration,” the body which had a very strong foundation under the leadership of Comrade Ogegere Enivwenaye, Comrade Okobi Hilary Ifechkwuade and Comrade Peter Orutu as President, Vice president and Secretary respectively affirmed.
