Delta Central Senatorial Election: Uvwie PDP Pledges Support for Majemite

Members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State have pledged their loyalty and support for Olorogun (Barr.) Fred Okiemute Majemite in aspiration to occupy the Delta Central Senatorial seat made vacant as a result of the demise of Chief Pius Ewherido.
Pledging their loyalty to Majemite when he paid a consultation visit to Uvwie PDP secretariat in Effurun, Delta State, the Spokesman of Uvwie PDP Chapter, Mr Collins Ighrakpata who spoke on behalf of the PDP representative assured Majemite that they would give him all the necessary support he needs to get to the Senate, pleading that he should not forget them when he gets there.
Ighrakpata who spoke amidst cheering and singing of praise in the name of Majemite, assured Majemite that after his first tenure they have also concluded plans to rally support to send him back to the Senate for second term in as much as he represent effectively in the Senate and attract development to Urhobo nation.
“After your first tenure, we promise to send you back to the Senate for second term. We are waiting for when you will be sworn in as the Senator representing Delta Central. Uvwie is your home. God will see you through this period and you will come out successfully,” Ighrakpata prayed for Majemite.
Ighrakpata lamented that despite that Uvwie has the highest vote in Delta State, they have suffered serious marginalization, adding that the only thing they had to show for their effort is the appointment of a board chairman.
Hear him,” Uvwie community has the highest number of voters in Delta State. Despite that, we have been suffering all king of marginalization.. The only appointment we have to show for our effort is that of a board chairman. We have suffered so much during the crisis. We promised to give you all the support you deserve to get there but do not forget us. “
Speaking earlier, Majemite appealed to members of PDP in Uvwie Local Government Area to back him in his effort to represent Urhobos in the Senate, adding that if he gets there, he would take Urhobos out of the bound of marginalization and bring rapid development to the community through enactments of Bills geared towards positive development of Urhobo nation.
As an experienced lawyer, Majemite promised to enacts Bills in the Senate that will bring the much needed development to Urhobo community in term of infrastructural development, establishment of industries, provision of employment and empowerment of elders, youths and the less privileged in the society among others.
Majemite who recalled that he had once contested for the position of the Senate ten years ago and was asked to drop for another candidate said ever since then he had been very loyal to the course of PDP and has held different government positions which has increased his administrative experience coupled with contact in high places which he intend to manipulate for the interest and development of the Urhobo nation if elected into the Senate.
“I am here to tell you that I am contesting for the position of Senate which became vacant as a result of the sudden demise of our brother Senator Pius Ewherido. I have contested for the position ten years ago but was asked to step down for Chief Felix Ibru. After that, I did not grudge anyone. I have been very steadfast and loyal to the party.
“If ten years ago, I was qualified to contest for the Senate, It means I am even more qualified for the position at this present dispensation because ever since then I have held different appoints which has enhanced my governmental experience and expanded my contact both at the state, national and international horizon. I have held different positions as Delta State Commissioner and Personal Assistant to the Governor of Delta State. Besides, I am a qualified lawyer who had been called to the Bar several years ago. I will bring all this experience to bear in the Senate and channel it to the socio-economically development of the Urhobo people.
“I am appealing that all the contestants should be assessed and the most qualified person should be voted for. There are many criteria you will use to assess all the aspirants.. They include loyalty, service and respect to the party, educational qualification and administrative experience in government circle among others,” he stated.
