Delta Central Bye-Election: Urhobo Community Backs Fred Majemite
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 3RD (URHOBOTODAY)-The people of Ekiugbo-Ughelli in Ughelli North LGA have thrown their weight behind the senatorial ambition of their son, Chief Barr Fred Majemite.
The support was given by the new leaders of the community during the occasion of their inauguration. The Chairman of the Central Executive Council and the Chairman of the Youth Council, Messrs Iwhiwhu Samson and Ugoware Charles respectively gave the assurance that they will mobilise support for Chief Fred Majemite who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the community.
Speaking in an interview shortly before the swearing in ceremony of the new elected community leaders, Mr Iwhihwu said,” we are all going to deliver Majemite, he is already there in the Senate”. Asked if he didn’t see Majemite as being too young for the Senate, Mr Iwhiwhu said, “ ten years ago he wanted to be a Senator and they asked him to step down but now the seat is vacant he should go for it. The whole community is for Fred Majemite, he has been of great assistance to the community so we will reciprocate by giving him the needed support for him to go to the Senate.
In his speech, also before the swearing in proper, Comrade Daniel Osodi, the immediate past Chairman of the Central Executive Council of the community expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of his administration. He particularly mentioned Hon Barr Rufus Edoja Akpodiete for the renovation of the Ekiugbo Primary School, Barr Emmanuel Erhisere for his contributions towards the infrastructure and facilities development in the community and Chief Fred Majemite who donated a Toyota Hiace bus to the community.
Highlight of the occasion was the administration of oath of office to all the elected officers by the Chairman of the electoral committee, Mr Augustine Orubu.
Later, the inaugurated exco were consecrated in a prayer session led by Apostle Godlives Numa who is the General Overseer of Rhema Faith Victory Assembly, Ekiugbo; for God to grant the new leaders the spirit of wisdom and for divine anointing to protect them from the wiles and attacks of the evil ones.
During a good will message, the immediate past Chairman of the Youth Council, Mr Daniel Hausa Federal told the new leaders to be cautious of gossips. He urged them to be industrious and continue their normal day to day hustling to survive since there are no companies in Ekiugbo and the leadership job has no pay.
“You must listen to the elders and the women folk although because of the exigencies I couldn’t listen to some of the elders while in office and to those people I sincerely tender my apologies, please forgive me” he said.
