LAGOS DECEMBER 15TH (URHOBOODAY)-Following the increasing spate of Kidnapping, ritual killings among others in Delta State, detectives attached to the criminal investigation department,( CID) at the police command in the state,on thursday arrested six herbalists In Ughelli towns and Abraka community on Intelligence gathering.
The commissioner in the state, Anthony Agbidi who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to newsmen in Asaba, disclosed that the detectives acted on Intelligence gathering, adding that the suspects, three of them were arrested in Ughelli towns, while the three other suspects were nabbed in Abraka community with strange substances Including prepared Charms in different containers.
CP Agbidi said:” the suspects were arrested on Intelligence gathering by Officers and men of the state CID and they recovered different prepared Charms in containers, the suspects made useful statements to the police and they shall be charged to court upon completion of investigation” and called on members of the public to always provide useful information to the police with a view to arresting criminals in their hideout.
He gave the names of the suspects to include: Benarld Thomas 52,Babalola Akin 48 who claimed to have hailed from Ijebu community, Lucky Omorofu,47 , Maculey Obaro,52, Aghalokpe Kennedy 49, and Chief Chiedu Agbarho 56years old, adding that the suspects will remain in the police custody until investigations are completed and they are charge to court.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed moves by young girls across the state to fortify themselves against being Kidnapped for rituals purposes,
CP Anthony Agbidi while exchanging views with newsmen on thursday in Asaba, disclosed that young girls between the ages of 18 and 20 years have allegedly resorted to patronizing native doctors to fortified them against ritual killings among others.
He said; the report reaching us has indicated that young girls have allegedly resorted to patronizing native doctors to help fortify them against ritual activities, the police have gone after these fraudsters and Yahoo, Yahoo boys,we will bring all of them to book soon”
It was garthered that ritualists allegedly use female pants, breasts, tongues, hearts,womb including Other vital parts of the body to enhance their ritual activities, and in most cases subject their patrons to huge sums of money payment but in view of this urgly development, and the need to survive the onslaught,young girls have taken to shrines of native doctors in various communities to protect themselves against unexpected attacks by these unsuspecting Yahoo, Yahoo boys.
One of the girls, Josephine Odor who spoke to newsmen in Asaba said that the move was to ensure they are are not seen by the Yahoo, Yahoo boys whose activitiesn the recent times have created fear of the unknown, especially their involvement in bizarre rituals using girls’ pants and parts of their body in money making venture .
She said” the rate at which girls are targets of these Yahoo, Yahoo boys have made us to embrace fortification in the shrins of native doctors,we know God protects but we need more protection in other ways, there are things we don’t do again because of the fortification,no more funication because what we are given will be destroyed, the situation at present is frightening and we need proper protection against these evil boys in town”.
Some native doctors who spoke to newsmen on Condition of anonymity said” we are into protection and not to destroy , the Charms are for protection so that the Yahoo, Yahoo boys will not see them,we protect and not part of ritual killings among others, we charge our customers N40,000 and many of them have been coming to thank us especially the students in Abraka community and others”
