Great Ogboru Formerly Dumps Labour Party, Urges Loyalists to Join APC

LAGOS APRIL 28TH (URHOBOTODAY0-The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Delta state in the 2015 election, Chief Great Ogboru, has formerly announced the resignation of his membership from the party.
Ogboru’s resignation might apparently be in preparation for an alleged move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Democratic People’s Party (DPP) governorship candidate was rumoured to have entered into an agreement with the leadership of LP in the state and at the national level to use the party to realize his governorship ambition in 2015.

It was reliably gathered that as part of the agreement, should the DPP win the election, members of LP would form the government with Ogboru and in case of things being in the other way, the party would revert to status quo.
In his letter of resignation which was addressed to the Chairman of LP in the state, Comrade Emeka Nkwoala, Ogboru stated that all the members of DPP who came into LP would be moving out and joining the APC to provide “a strong, formidable, reliable and credible alternative to leadership in our state, and by extension good governance.”
The letter dated April 26, 2016 a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Asaba added that all those who came from DPP to LP “and others of like minds will henceforth cease to be members of the LP.”
”This of course is part of our agreement when we moved enmass to the LP. I have also written to you as chairman because this was our understanding with you then, that we shall revert you back to chairman in the event of our mass exodus to a new party,” it added.
Meanwhile, Comrade Nkwoala rising from an emergency State Working Committee (SWC) meeting yesterday told journalists that the party has accepted the resignation of Ogboru, adding that measures were being put in place to re-position the party.
Ogboru’s resignation may have put paid to the stand of the chairman of LP during the alliance with DPP, Tony Ezeagwu who had dissociated LP from the merger talks with APC.
Ezeagwu had frowned at the on-going merger talks, claiming that he was not aware of such arrangement, and added as the chairman of LP in the state, he has the final say.
“The leadership of the party led by me as the state chairman is not part of any merger talks. So LP remains LP, we are not doing anything with APC as far as the LP that I lead is concerned, I am the final arbiter of the party in Delta State,” Ezeagwu had said.

  1. Great Ogboru – I have every wish that you become the governor of Delta State and you will surely be one day. Don’t give up. Keep up the struggle and we are praying for your success. You just have to find a way of ‘ambushing’ the dragon of a PDP.
