Delta: Three Die as Ughelli Communities Battle over Control of Central Market

LAGOS DECEMBER 17TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Three youths were reported to have lost their lives and several sustained serious degree of injuries when youths of Otorthereko and Ekiugbo communities in Ughelli North local government area, clashed this morning over control of Ughelli Central Market.
Youth of both communities reported to have been having running battle over the control of Ughelli Central Market clashed this money at the venue of the Ughelli Central Market in a show of supremacy. The youths seen brandishing various kind of dangerous weapons drew the battle line at Ughelli Market which is the boundary between both communities and started using dangerous weapons on themselves freely.
After the fracas, no fewer than three youths were reported to have been killed while many others sustained verious degree of injuries.
While the battle was on, hoodlums s used the confusion created by the crisis to start robbing and dispossessing traders of their cash and other valuables.
It was the arrival of security men made up of police and soldiers that scared them away. Meanwhile relative peace had returned to the area as business activities has started in full scale .
It would be recalled that similar crisis was aborted a month ago over the disputed market. Then, the the Local Government Chairman of Ughelli North LGA Hon Ibru enjoined them to shield their swords, adding that he should be giving time on how he could broker peace.
