Wike, The Sleeping Governor
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 8TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Since coming to office on May 29th, 2015 as the governor of oil-rich Rivers state, Nyeson Wike has often fallen asleep during public functions. Sometimes deeply asleep and snoring such that aides have to wake him up so he could catch up with the rest of the events or hurriedly leave to continue sleeping.

The governor has continued to engage in these embarrassing behaviors in the office, churches and public gatherings in the state. Whereas cat naps or power naps could be excused for sleep deprivation for someone being overworked, Mr. Wike’s public sleeping fests might be a symptom of a bigger health issue.

If Wike’s sleeping habit is a recurring one both in public occasions and elsewhere the simple logical advice for him is to take a sleep test for possible confirmation of a suected Sleep Apnea. Sleep action is a sleep disorder, resulting from the heart not being sufficiently supplied with oxygen when one sleeps. He may sleep all day yet the quality of sleep is abysmally poor to keep him awake all day in his normal functions.
Until the sleep test is done on him, we cannot have a further conversation on his health problem.
