One Suspect Arrested as Gunmen Kidnap E.K. Clark’s Son

LAGOS MARCH 3RD (URHOBOTODAY0-There was apprehension yesterday at Kiagbodo, Burutu LGA, Delta State when four heavily armed men stormed the community in a commado style and whisked away Chief Ebikeme Clark the son of Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark to an unknown place.
One of the suspects who could not escape with the gang was reported to have been apprehended.

URHOBOTODAY gathered from a reliable source that Ebikeme had gone to Kiagbodo to pay the salaries of workers, working on the construction site of his father’s university, Edwin Clark University of Technology when the kidnappers strucked.
“No sooner had he concluded paying salaries to the workers when the hoodlum who mixed up among the workers pulled out their guns, shot into the air to scare away intruders, after which one of them seized and hit Ebikeme with the booth of his gun and dragged him into his (Ebikeme’s) car and drove him to Erhuvwarien waterside a nearby village close to Kiagbodo. At the village, they abandoned his car, put him into a waiting speed boat and took him into the creek”, our source who do not want his name on print disclosed.
Our source further revealed that attempt for Kiagbodo youths to rescue Ebikeme was futile as the gunmen where reported to be heavily armed with A.K.47 gun shot sporadically into the air to wade away intruders, adding that a man suspected to be close associate of the kidnappers who was reported discussing with the kidnappers before they struck was allegedly apprehended by the youths and handed over to the police.
Ebikeme Clark, a politician hoping to take over from his father, it would be recalled, contested the last elections to represent Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is presently scheming to occupy the office of Burutu local government area as the Chairman.
A top police source in Delta state who confirmed the kidnap, said Ebikeme’s abductors emerged from the water in the evening and whisked away their victim to an unknown destination.
Men of Delta State police command, the source added, have stepped up efforts to trace the suspected kidnappers and locate where they are holding their victim.
The incident, it was gathered, is already generating tension in Kiagbodo.
