Nigeria Leads Africa’s Smart Phone Market with Samsung,Tecno, Apple Lead as Vendors

LAGOS JULY 14TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Nigeria was in the lead of Africa smart phone in the first quarter of 2015, latest figure released by Global Technology Consulting Firm, International Data Corporation (IDC) has revealed.
Nigeria contributed significantly to the over all growth seen in Africa, with the country experiencing year-on-growth of 135 percent, according to IDC.
Nigeria also accounted for fourteen percent of all smart phone shipments across the continent during the first quarter of the year.
South Africa comes next experiencing year-on-year growth of fifty six percent of all smartphone shipments across the continent during the quarter.
Samsung, Tecno and Apple were the leading smartphone vendors in Africa during the quarter, with Huawei being ousted from the top three.
The three leading vendors accounted for a combined fifty five percent share of Africa’s smartphone in first quarter of 2015, according to’ IDC Q1 2015 Mobile Phone tracker’.
