High Cost Of Transportation, Food Items Mar Christmas Celebrations In Delta

LAGOS DECEMBER 27TH (URHOBOTODAY)-High cost of transportation, and that of food items marred Christmas celebrations across Delta State
Investigation revealed that there were few commercial vehicles and private vehicles on the streets of Asaba and Warri metropolis, the available commercial vehicles increased their fares much higher than the normal charge of a charter.
Further investigation revealed that the fare for tricycles, the most popular means of transportation in Asaba and Warri metropolis worsened the difficulties of commuters as they collected between N100.00 and N150.00 per distance and in some cases collect N1,000.00 for special charters at the pains of the commuters.
Eateries and club houses in Asaba and Warri bustled heavily for youths and few older persons anxious to make their day blissful.
Blessing Sylvia, a holiday makers who spoke to our correspondence in Asaba said “apart from the high cost of transportation food items are not affordable at all and in most cases no means of moving from one place to another. Club houses are filled to the brim.”
Investigation revealed that hoodlums allegedly had field day as they raided clubbers in Okpanam, Asaba and Ibusa Community while they carted away unspecified amount of money including their victims’ belongings; but the police public relations officer in the state, Mrs Celestina Kalu who confirmed the activities of the hoodlum s said “We arrested six persons who raided a popular club house in Asaba and they are presently helping the police for further investigation. Our Policemen are everywhere to monitor the activities of the hoodlums and bring them to book.”
