LAGOS MAY 13TH (URHOBOTODAY)- A body called, the National Peace Building and Conflict Reconciliation Organisation (NPBCTO), has called on the President–Elect, General Mohammadu Buhari to exercise restraint in his statements, in order not to create fear and disharmony among Nigerians who voted for him in the March 28, 2015 election.
The body spoke to the media after their meeting at Obiaruku, Ukwuani LGA, Delta State, recently, through Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, Bishop of God Worshippers Assembly Worldwide and the National Presiding Bishop of Ecumenical Apostolic Church, Nigeria.

According to Bishop Nmalagu, the body had considered some of the statements and actions of the President–Elect and his All Progressive Congress (APC) members, after their victory, and came to the conclusion that such frequent utterances will not move the country forward, and the people will only see the incoming government as government that is out to witch-hunt their opponents.
Specifically the group is asking General Mohammed Buhari to be selective in his statements, most especially in criticising the outgoing government and party. The group frowned at the statement which the President-Elect and APC made, that the economic and social development of Nigeria for 16 years of democracy was 16 years of wastage, adding that said such statement is an unbecoming of President–Elect of Nigeria.
“That the APC government, which will be led by General Buhari, should be a government of National Unity, where all Parties in Nigeria including the present ruling party, the People Democratic Party (PDP) will be part of the government. This will ensure an effective democratic system.
“ That the President–Elect and APC should emulate President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP, who after losing at the Presidential election and other elective posts in the country, congratulated the APC winners and decided not to take any legal action despite the irregularities noticed.
“Instead of pursuing litigation, which will be money and time wasting, such energy and resources should be channelled to the development of the country, as any legal actions by the APC candidates, in any part of Nigeria will hamper social economic development of that area, and will affect his (Buhari) own policy development as development of Nigeria have to be holistic.
‘’That Buhari , should make efforts to appreciate what President Jonathan has achieved, and this should not be undermined, especially in the areas of Peace, Agricultural Development, Rail Transport Development, and the Education Sector,” the group advised.
