Fear Grips Staff, Students of Warri College of Education as Adopted Lecturer, Isaac Dittimiya Spends 23 Days in Kidnappers Den
LAGOS MARCH 11TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Staff and students of College of Education, Warri, Delta State are presently in state of confusion and fear over the non-release of the Dean of Warri College of Education, Mr. Isaac Dittimiya reported to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen twenty three days ago.
Urhobotoday learnt that both academic staff and non-academic staff of the school, including students of the school went on strike in protest against the abduction of their colleague. Investigation however revealed that the striking school workers and students have called off their protest.
A staff of the school who do not want his name on print reliably informed Urhobotoday that Isaac Dittimiya, an Ijaw indigene from Kiagbodo, Burutu LGA of Delta State was kidnapped by unknown gunmen twenty three days ago on his was out of the school premises by armed men. He added that since then he had not been released.
Giving an insight on how he was adopted, our source disclosed that the lecturer’s vehicle was blocked by the hoodlums on his way out of the school’s premises and with the confusion that followed a friend of Dittimiya who was in the same vehicle with him managed to escape after sustaining a gunshot injury on his arm. He is presently treating himself in one of the private hospitals.
A source from Isaac Dittimiya’s family told Urhobotoday that a day after his adoption, the kidnappers called Ditimiya’s wife and demanded for N10m ransom, adding that it was later reduced to N3m.
“Although we heard that his wife gave some amount of money to the kidnappers, we cannot say how much exactly she gave out to them. But our fear right now is that after paying the ransom, Dittimiya had not been released. We pray that nothing bad has happened to him,” Dittimiya family member lamented.
