Ebonyi State First Lady, Rachel Umahi Flags-Off Her Pet Project
LAGOS JUY 31ST (URHOBOTODAY)-Ebonyi State Governor’s wife, Rachel Umahi, on Thursday flagged of her pet project, ‘Family Succour and Upliftment Programme ( FSUP) to replace Mother and Child Care Initiative of her predecessor.
The project has four thematic areas bordering on health, education, economic empowerment and youths.
A statement made available to Urhobotoday an online medium explained that the programme is aimed at achieving an effective and efficient primary healthcare, 100 percent girl-child education, economic empowerment, job creation for women and youths as well as the upliftment and enhancement of their general living status.
It added that the pet project is in partnership with several agencies, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Society for Family Health.
According to her, “FSUP is part of my effort at using my position as wife of the governor to mainstream certain issues that will improve upon the productivity of our women and youths so as to reduce the burden of poverty among our people.”
She called on well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations and agencies to support her in enhancing the socio-economic status of women, children and youths in the state.
“Am calling on well meaning individuals, corporate organizations and other agencies for their logistics and other forms of support for the center, to enable it realize its objectives of enhancing the socioeconomic status of our women, children and youths,” she disclosed.
Her husband,the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Umahi who led a team of Government functionaries to the well attended event, pledged his administration’s readiness to render a helping to her.
Umahi said he was not surprised that his wife came up with a pet project of “this nature”, because he had always known her “to be generous to a fault.”
